Patricia Ferns

I draw my inspiration from various sources – the body, landscape

and nature. My work conveys the energy, texture, movement and

effects of light in landscape and simplicity of line in other subjects.

The expansion of my work from painting and drawing in pastels,

oils and acrylics into textiles grew from painting on silk. I soon began to explore using machine embroidery, hand embroidery and applique on my painted silk. These experimentations led to my textile work exploring textures, layering and mixed media

with exquisite detail in machine and hand stitch.

As a mature student I completed a part time Fine Arts degree at Plymouth University

where some of my course work was textile based.
